Dear Everyone,
Where is the year going? Our Office move was successful earlier in the year with the ongoing works to the outer building still ongoing. We have worked through the busy summer and do hope that we have met everyone’s expectations.
Our carers have and always do work very hard in adhering to all requirements and keeping their allocated patients safe. Reporting and recording is such an important part of the business for the office, authorities and for families, so carers please continue to expand on your notes so nothing is missed regarding anyone’s conditions. Remember use of the App is expected by all authorities and helpful to GP’s etc.
To our clients, please report any concerns to the office. To our carers, please use your PPE and do not transfer from house to house. Dispose of PPE correctly, always and, put in a bag and then in the black bag. Please ensure that patients/clients’ kitchen bins are emptied and put in the black bin or recycle cartons in the orange bin outside. Watch out for over cluttering of paper or unused cardboard to avoid any fire risk in a person’s home.
There appears to be a rise in reported COVID, Sepsis, Whooping Cough, Shingles etc., so everyone please don’t skimp on sanitizing and washing your hands. Wear masks if any risk is felt by either patient or carer. Carers if you are unusually tired, or unwell, we will always listen, there is a confidential wellbeing form you can complete and you can also be seen face to face confidentially by personnel.
When the weather is hot, please ensure portable fans are not positioned directly in the patient’s face, aim the fan in the direction of the person but always above or below the face, this may prevent the oxygen in the air to be whisked away. Also leave a throw or blanket nearby so people can pull over them if they become chilly. Ensure water or juice is left conveniently so they can reach but without knocking over, or over stretching.
Our patients very much enjoy conversation, carers just know when to stop, measure your chattering, just enough and not too much to wear the person out.
Consent must be gained for all processes even in the form of conversation, i.e. `we are going to turn you now, is that OK’? Or something similar.
Finally thankyou to all our patients and clients who support Telopea and thankyou to all our carers who have worked so hard over the summer and still are.
We must always appreciate each other.
Very best wishes and thankyou,
Brenda
