This SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2025

My Goodness, we are officially in Summertime.
I find everything a bit fraught these days, no time to wait and, always time to moan. Let us
always be patient and grateful, for each other, our lovely patients, our amazing carers and my
sympathetic office staff, who create the Rota’s, audit patient notes, admin, accounting,
appraisals, wage preparation, IT and back up, checking medication and most of all, we really do
listen. So well done and thank you everyone also the kind relatives who keep us informed.
When travelling I have specifically noticed the lack of hygiene when the general public are out
and about shopping, getting car fuel or out in general. I’ve seen people licking their fingers after
eating, then opening a door, dropping tissues, coughing over people and much more. When any
of you are out and about, wipe a door handle discreetly before opening it and sanitise after
touching handles, or attending a public toilet.

In someone’s house whatever your duties, remember you are there to make a difference and
you are the guest in their home. Wear shoes covers, masks if necessary, always wear your
uniform, only leave the person’s house after clearing up your mess, washing up any plates or
other dishes and dispose of waste properly as you have been taught in your training. Wash your
hands over and over again, or sanitise, or both. Always leave the house clean and tidy, replace
key in key safes, report and record your visit in the care plan or App and, if there is a gate please
close it.

Please all be extra vigilant during the summer, we can all experience feeling uncomfortable. It is
essential to keep well hydrated and cool, however sometimes patients can feel a bit chilly, so
carers please leave a throw within reach for those chilly moments or nights.
Over the summer many of us would love to take a break or go somewhere nice but, for most of
us this isn’t possible, so let’s all make every effort to enjoy what we do have and enjoy our time
at home.

Telopea is trying to support our local Village and recently we hired the local Village Hall for our
Manual Handling training which proved to be a great success, thank you to those who took part.
Next, is the Milton Ernest Village Fete which Telopea are also supporting, do come along if you
can.

Congratulations to our long time Carer Margaret (Maggie) who is getting married mid-June to a
lovely man who she has known for some years. Best wishes and good health to you both.
Welcome to Lynn our lovely home help, we have received good feedback from everyone she has
attended.

Also, a welcome return to Michelle who has returned to Telopea on a part time basis.
Some of our clients/patients have been admitted to hospital recently for varying diagnosis or
concerns. We hope you all get better soon, your carers are missing you.
Finally, a grateful thanks to all our Carers and Nurses who carry out some amazing work every
day you are very much appreciated.

Regards to everyone,
Brenda.
